The COVID-19 pandemic has upended virtually every aspect of our lives and forced us to rethink the way we work. Our studio has of course felt the effects as well. But despite the uncertainty and ongoing disruptions life continues. For example, KQED and other media outlets in the Bay Area still need to produce their shows. We are continuing to modify the way we make our work happen as we adapt to ongoing changes as a result of COVID-19. Here’s a look at what we’re doing to make sure our clients can keep producing their content.

We are first and foremost ensuring that everyone in our facility can practice social distancing. We’ve changed the setup in both our control room and the studio to accomplish this. Production content has also been dispersed so that our staff and clients can work from other rooms, limiting the number of people in a room at any given time. This means that we can remain completely operational and fully functional while complying with CDC guidelines and recommendations.

We’re also protecting our clients and guests by confirming with them that they are not experiencing any symptoms and using a thermometer to check their temperature before they’re allowed in the building. As testing develops we are also working to build a screening area before visitors come in. This helps us develop and gather content from anyone with the confidence that we are doing so safely. We’ll continue to modify our procedures in accordance with recommendations from the CDC and local government.

Finally, our team is already very good at working remotely. We’ve been producing content in a virtual environment for a long time so we haven’t had to catch up while we figure out how to do it. While we have had to make some changes and adaptations in this new environment to get our work done, we already have a strong virtual infrastructure in place to accomplish remote production.

It doesn’t need to be said that these times have tried us in ways we couldn’t have imagined. Every industry has had to adapt to ongoing changes at a rapid pace. Ultimately we are continuing to do what we’ve always done: getting complicated work done using the newest technology from anywhere. It’s part of our DNA, and we will continue to do what we have to do to stay safe while producing high-quality content for our clients.
